What is Project LOOP?

Project LOOP is a tactical roguelike deckbuilder where movement and positioning matter as much as the cards in your hand. Build your deck, travel through a procedurally generated map, and outsmart enemies that react to distance, health, and battlefield position.

This is not a traditional card battler with movement added on top — the entire combat system is built around the grid. Every card, every AoE, every ability is designed with your position in mind.


Key Features

  • Position is power — AoE cards, holy waves and pillar strikes depend on where you stand. Move first, think second, play third.
  • Smart enemies with real roles — Fighters close distance, Archers retreat while shooting, Assassins flank for bonus damage, Berserkers scale over time. Every enemy forces a different response.
  • Procedurally generated runs — Branching paths built on a custom-designed map algorithm. Risk vs reward decisions every step. Greedy routes get punished.
  • Build-breaking by design — ~100 artifacts built for wild combinations. Find the right synergies, stack the right cards, and break the run completely. That's not a bug — that's the goal.
  • Passive Skill Tree — Offense / Defense / Utility branches with unlockable keystones. Shape your playstyle across runs, not just within them.
  • Real New Game+ — Scaling movement speed, health and damage that forces mastery of every mechanic. Not just higher numbers.

Current Playable Class — Paladin

The Paladin is a defensive frontline class built around holy damage and battlefield control. Holy abilities deal bonus damage against Undead and Demon enemies — rewarding players who learn enemy compositions and plan their deck around the fights ahead. Hold the line, punish darkness, control the grid.

Each class comes with its own card pool (~50 cards), its own playstyle, and its own way of using the grid. More classes are in development.

In Active Development — Co-op Mode (up to 4 players)

Co-op in Project LOOP is not just singleplayer with a friend added.

Every player builds their own deck with their chosen class. Co-op unlocks a separate pool of exclusive cards and artifacts that don't exist in singleplayer — available to all players regardless of class.

Here's where it gets interesting: if multiple players hold the same co-op card or artifact, it fuses into a more powerful version. Coordinate with your team, stack the same pieces, and create combinations that are impossible to achieve alone.

The more players align their builds — the more broken it gets. On purpose.

Long-term Vision

  • Up to 12 unique classes — each with ~50 cards and a distinct playstyle
  • ~100 artifacts designed for wild, build-breaking combinations
  • A roguelike you can actually break — solo or with a team of four

About the Developer

Project LOOP is built solo in Godot 4.4 — one person, one vision.

The map generation runs on a custom algorithm inspired by Slay the Spire's branching structure — redesigned from scratch to fit Project LOOP's tactical flow. The goal is a mechanically deep deckbuilder where positioning, movement and deck composition all matter equally — and where the right combination of artifacts can turn a run into something completely unexpected.

This is version 0.2.0. The foundation is solid. What comes next is shaped by the players who are here now.

Combat Rework

  • AoE cards now depend on player position
  • Consecration (around player)
  • Holy Wave (player row)
